A huge thank you to everyone who donated to the purchase of a digital radiograph machine. With your generosity, $45,700 was raised for this brand new, much-needed piece of equipment.
On July 9, 2024 the x-ray machine arrived. We began using the x-ray as soon as installation was completed that same day. Since installation, we have been able to take x-rays of over 15 different shelter animals. These x-rays have ranged from checking for foreign bodies in the intestines to finding broken bones in new arrivals. Each time the machine is used, it saves the SPCA a minimum of $150 per animal and allows us to devote that money to the daily care of the animals. Instead of paying an external veterinarian’s office per x-ray view, now our own veterinarian can check for injuries and illness from any angle.
Having a digital radiograph on-site allows our veterinarian to quickly and efficiently diagnose health concerns within the shelter animals. Thank you again to everyone who donated to the purchase of this machine.
