Declawing Your Cat
Declawing is the amputation of each of a cat's toes at the first joint; the equivalent of removing the tip of your finger at the first knuckle. This is an extremely painful procedure that would be considered mutilation in humans. This procedure can cause permanent behavioral changes in a cat.
As of July 2024, declawing has been banned in the state of Virginia for cosmetic, aesthetic, or convenience reasons.
